In celebration of our 40th year anniversary, we have designed an exclusive collection in collaboration with talented Australian textile artist Victoria Garcia. A refined Victorian botanical world, delicately interconnected, David Lawrence x Victoria Garcia explores an elegant and untamed wilderness, flowing with life. Detailed floral illustrations and quality, timeless pieces, the collection encourages eyes to linger for those subtle details.
– INSPIRATION –
The exclusive collection was inspired by a visit to Mulberry House; The home of Joan Lindsay, author of Picnic at Hanging Rock. This collection incorporates the unique paintings and quirky curios that have found their place inside this national trust building. Our Senior Designer, Melinda Butina said, “On a recent visit to Mulberry Hill House I became inspired by the quirky curios, paintings and artefacts curated throughout…” discussing the story behind the collection. It was the hand-painted porcelain masks and exquisite species of butterflies and bugs found at mulberry house that have been intricately embodied throughout this exclusive hand painted print, capturing the essence of the building and the Australian land which it is found.
– THE ARTIST –
Victoria Garcia is a Filipino-Australian artist and textile designer based in Sydney. Through drawing, textile design and interactive installations, Victoria Garcia creates heavily patterned, immersive environments which incorporate her Filipino – Australian identity. Victoria was therefore the perfect fit to bring our inspiration to life. Her feminine handwriting, passion for the Australian landscape and connection to nature enabled her to capture the beauty and eccentricity of flora and fauna through a bespoke print, designed exclusively for our 40th year anniversary.
