A Welcome Change


Soft, textured fabric and a moody colour palette create an effortless new season uniform. The Autumn Winter 19 campaign celebrates dark hues, reinvented outerwear and it revisits prints for cool temperatures.

February’s collection features two signature prints: the Avalon and the Burnout Leopard and it highlights the first of several new season trenches, the Dayton Trench, a must-have military inspired garment that will become this season’s staple coat. The Avalon Print collection is currently available for purchase and the Dayton Trench will be available later in the season.

The Avalon print is exclusive to David Lawrence and we’ve used it to decorate three garments: the Avalon Dress, the Avalon Pleat Neck Tee and the Avalon Blouse. Crafted from a luxurious lightweight pure silk fabrication and adorned with a micro floral print in rich red and gold tones, this print exudes effortless elegance.

Discover an array of animal print designs with our leopard print Autumn Winter 19 styles. Beautiful separates like the Burnout Leopard Top and Burnout Leopard Skirt lead our new season prints and are elevated by light-weight fabrics that drape elegantly on the body. Nothing says Autumn Winter like a trench coat. Formerly the emblem of patriotism and loved by elite fashion houses, the trench represents structure, authority and grace. It is a style that we revisit every autumn and winter because of its versatility, practicality and classic look. Each year we breathe new life into this decade old design and we’re excited to showcase this year’s creations. This season we’ve updated the classic trench silhouette by crafting it in a rich tan hue and adding subtle new details.


The process
At David Lawrence the design process has always been at the centre of our brand. At the beginning of each season, our Senior Designer Mel sets out to create a mood which will shape the collection, taking inspiration from current trends, international designers, and trips abroad.
The design team then comes together with their own research to brainstorm and create individual stories with specific colour palettes and prints, each of which is exclusive to David Lawrence. From this they will design into individual items whilst also sketching key looks to envision how the collection will be outfitted.  Quality fabrics for each style are then sourced from mills all over the world.
Fitting is one of the most important processes in creating our garments. As a brand we pride ourselves on offering a reliable and consistent fit to our customers. The fit process is often lengthy with each garment being fitted up to 3 times. We assess each garment for ease of movement, comfort, and design details. Working closely with our manufacturers we work to create the perfect fit through detailed fit comments and fit photos. Only when the team is completely happy with both all of these elements do we give the go ahead to start production.
It is a long process from initial concept stage to the final finished garment. Along the way ideas change and styles develop. The one this that remains constant in our minds is the customer: what does she want this season, how can we offer her something new and different but stay true to who we are. As always we aim to appeal to independent, ambitious women who want to dress for success.
